3.2 Staging

Staging is a critical element in treatment planning and should be clearly documented in the patient’s medical record.

Staging for ovarian cancer involves pathological assessment following surgery (see section 4.2.1). Structured reporting by a pathologist is encouraged.

Where surgery is not planned or possible, staging can be based on clinical findings and investigations.
